    Croswell Michigan Facts

    The City of Croswell has grown from its timber and saw mill in the 1800s to its farming and sugar factory of the 1900s to this day of Pioneer Sugar Corp. With  the maintained city power plant, proximity to transportation and shipping corridors and  continued city  development for future growth,  Croswell is ready for future diversification.

    The City of Croswell is an anchor to opportunity with it available work force, proximity to interstates , Lake Huron, and Major crossings into Canada.

     

    The Croswell area is a great example of  Thumb Area living with its abundance of natural resources for hunting, fishing, boating and the like. The community also enjoys and demonstrates how proud they are of their city with many downtown activities throughout the year.

    20 miles from Major Crossings into Canada via the Blue Water Bridges or rail tunnel.

    The City of Croswell developed from the banks of the Black River as the pioneers of the 1800s came to the area to lumber the great white pines.
                   

    The determination of the areas population was evident with the great fire of 1881 which destroyed their resources of timber. The people quickly rebounded recognizing  the abundant acres of fertile land and the already established railroad.
     
    The progressive nature of this areas people is documented with the development of their own water plant in 1895 and their own electric plant in 1896. The sugar beet industry was secured with the completion of the sugar plant in 1902.
     

    The strong commitment of the Black River community secured its place with the establishment of a city in 1905 as the City of Croswell.
